Helmar Care and Community Services Limited was founded in 1999 as a community response to the health and social care needs of people from all communities.  In 2008, Helmar embarked on a policy of expansion and diversification strategy which involved extending not just the geographical catchment area, but also the scope of services provided to everyone.  The policy is part of a five Year Business Plan that drives the charity's operations.

Helmar Board of directors has taken upon themselves a responsibility of monitoring the agency.

Care services:

Helmar care provides home care services (Domiciliary Care) commissioned by the social services as well as private and end of life care. We are monitored regularly by Kingston Council commissioners, Care Quality Commission and the Palliative care.

We follow strictly the approved procedures of recruitment according to the national and local requirements. All staff and volunteers are CRB checked and obtain references prior to employment.

We provide regular training for the staff. We also provide induction and more training for applicants before they start work.

Other services:

Helmar's aims and objectives are to relieve sickness and to preserve the good health of people of African descent living in London as well as elsewhere in the UK and in Africa particularly North-east of Uganda.  Our key objectives are:

  • To promote awareness and knowledge of sexual health and HIV/AIDS, and strategies for its prevention;
  • To advance education by providing and assisting in the provision of advice and facilities for children's and adult education;
  • To relieve financial position of the people served by the organization;
  • To carry out any other functions and activities that is consistent with the aims and objectives of the organization.

 

ISO

This will run as a domiciliary care agency.  Its purpose will be to provide work for people who are bringing up families and those that will be trained to develop a skill to enable them to become efficient and assist their families financially.

The Agency has now been registered with the Care Quality Commission and it is run by a qualified Care Manager.  

 We are currently undertaking training of careworkers whom we will employ after they complete the training .
